Love & Hip Hop Star Receives Addiction Treatment at Bayside Marin

Friends of Bayside Marin may have noticed a few familiar sights during the season four finale of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood, which aired Oct. 17.

Part of the show focused on the progress of Teairra Mari, the singer-songwriter and actress who had entered rehab at Bayside Marin following an intervention that was featured in a previous episode.

In the Oct. 17 finale, Teairra discussed her progress during a conversation on our property with professional interventionist Kristina Wandzilak. The segment opened with a few exterior shots of Bayside Marin, before focusing on Teairra as she sat on a bench in the rose garden overlooking the San Francisco Bay.

When Kristina joined her, Teairra explained that the lessons she learned during her first 30 days at Bayside Marin led her to the decision to extend her time with us in order to fully prepare herself to pursue a sober future. (When the segment was filmed, Teairra was nearing the end of a 90-day stay at Bayside Marin. At the time of the intervention, Teairra had only agreed to try rehab for 30 days)

“When 30 days passed, I realized I wasn’t ready to go back home,” Teairra said. “It wasn’t even about alcohol at that point. … I realized that I wasn’t treating myself with love, compassion, or self-worth.”

In addition to gaining greater insights into what had contributed to her alcohol abuse and addiction, Teairra said that her time at Bayside Marin had also helped her to overcome a sense of shame and isolation. She found great value, Teairra told Kristina, from “interacting with people [at Bayside Marin] and knowing that I’m not the only person that has dealt with an abusive relationship with any substance.”

“It’s incredibly healing to know that you’re not alone,” Kristina noted.

After she completed her 90 days at Bayside Marin, Teairra discussed her experiences on the VH1 talk show The Real. Her comments reflected both her appreciation for her time at Bayside Marin and her focus on maintaining her recovery.

“Going to rehab was one of the best things that I could have ever done for myself,” Teairra said. “I’m still human, and I’m going to make mistakes, but I just want to take it one day at a time.”
