Makhetsi Tessien, MS, AMFT
Makhetsi is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who has been working with addiction since graduating with her M.S. in Clinical Psychology from the Notre Dame de Namur University. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. Currently, she serves as a Primary Therapist at Bayside Marin Outpatient where she conducts individual and educational group sessions. In addition, Makhetsi works in a general private practice where she works with adolescents, adults, couples, and families.
Her approach to addiction emphasizes the role that unconscious dynamics play in creating addiction. She believes that by gaining a better understanding of our life-events and observing how they have shaped us, we can find a way out of the patterns and dynamics that have kept us stuck. Makhetsi believes that this kind of self-awareness leads us to a greater sense of empowerment, freedom, and long-term recovery.
