Michael Roeske On Opioid Addiction As An Attachment Disorder

Free Webinar

Friday, August 17, 2018 Webinar at 2pm CST

The origin of the opioid epidemic is often tied to the behaviors of an unscrupulous pharmaceutical company. While there is evidence to support this position, it may actually be preventing us from fully appreciating the situation. In this talk, we will: define the opioid crisis and social-historical factors in the escalation of opioid use/misuse; review the relationship of opioid misuse to attachment theory, pain, play and sociality; and discuss treatment and competencies, chronic pain, harm reduction, evidence based practices, medication assisted treatments, community support, and talk therapy.
